První v historii fotografie obyvatel mořského dna Antarktidy

Tyto bytosti objevila antarktická bioložka, doktorka Susanne Lockhartová, na mořském dně v dosud neprozkoumané oblasti Antarktidy. Byl natočen několikahodinový videomateriál, který byl společně se zástupci flóry a fauny odeslán do laboratoře k dalšímu zkoumání. Doktorka Lockhartová uvedla, že získané údaje mají obrovský význam pro budoucnost Jižního oceánu: bude je možné využít k vytvoření chráněných mořských zón v této oblasti a ochránit křehké antarktické ekosystémy.

Greenpeace is on a three-month expedition to the Antarctic to carry out scientific research, including seafloor submarine dives, to highlight the urgent need for the creation of a 1.8 million square kilometre Antarctic Ocean Sanctuary.
